I am accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. I originally trained as a Mental Health Nurse, then as a Children’s Nurse. I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
My qualifications are:
I have over 15 years of experience working with children, young people and adults experiencing mental health struggles. I have worked with a wide variety of Mental Health difficulties within both community mental health and acute hospital settings. For the past 10 years, I have worked primarily with young people using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) intervention; this evidence based, collaborative intervention aims to explore how thoughts and the things we do impact on how we feel. Within my practice I also utilise Compassion focused therapy (CFT) techniques.
Alongside private practice, I work as a Senior member of staff in a specialist NHS service for children and young people with anxiety or mood disorders, PTSD and OCD. I also supervise the practice of junior colleagues and trainee CBT therapists.
It is a privilege to support young people & help them to better understand their struggles and the patterns which keep problems going. My aim is to assist young people to build on their existing strength & resilience by learning new skills to make positive changes, & ultimately live a more fulfilled life.
